Slim in 6 Journey: Part 2

So I discovered that I was doing my Slim in 6 wrong. That being said, I did lose two pounds doing it wrong. Imagine what will happen when I do it right???!!!

Slim in 6 journey!!!
So today, I start my Slim in 6 journey. Well to be honest, it’s a restart because I was doing it wrong. I have decided to get a jumpstart on my New Year’s Resolution and start now. When I make a choice, I really don’t want to wait on it. So here goes!!!
I have purchased BeachBody’s Slim in 6 challenge pack which contains the Slim in 6 workout and the shakeology.
I will be posting updates on my journey here so you can all follow along. The first week consists of a very specific change in my diet with exercise. I am excited to be doing this as there will be weightloss and inches loss seen within the first week. Now, if you are anything like me, I hate to exercise but I hate to not fit my clothes more. But because I hate exercising, I KNOW that I need constant motivation especially in the beginning. And what better way to have motivation than pounds lost right away!
And so I start today! I have already had my shake this morning and I will eat again in two hours. (6 small meals a day, two hours apart!)

And to be honest, I owe it to this woman. She was such an inspiration to me! I thought, if she can do it, than so can I!! This is Eileen who is age 93. By using Slim in 6, Eileen lost 110 pounds!!! To me? THAT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! No excuses now, eh?

Day 3 of Slim in Six done!

So today was a bit of a different day. I have been consistent in my first two days, following the exercise and following the nutrition. Today I woke up and was feeling rather blah about the whole affair. In times past, this blah feeling would have caused a self pity throw in the towel day. Not today!

Today, I readily and quickly identified that the "blah" feeling was due to some personal stress and not really diet/exercise related. So I jumped in and continued on with the program. I did notice a few things. With other programs I have used, the day would be so intense, and knowing that ahead of time, I would not even be able to muster the commitment part of the motivation to get me rear in gear. However, knowing this program was not like that, I was able to muster the "I committed" part of the motivation and go ahead. And to be honest, I did feel somewhat better for having pushed through for two reasons: 1) I succeeded in pushing through (a victory for me) and 2) the exercise reduced some of the stress.

Another thing I have noticed is that I no longer feel the need for coffee in the morning. Prior to starting this, I was noticing that coffee was becoming ineffectual and my system was becoming somewhat immune to it. However, since starting Shakeology, I am finding that I don't event think about needing coffee in the morning to kick start me.

Now, so far I have not seen a drop in weight, however, I think there are a few reasons.  One, the six day diet included is based on a lot of clean eating. Fruits, vegies, protein and no carbs as an initial weight loss. However, I was raised as a clean eater. We didn't eat a lot of junk growing up and as a result, I have very little junk in my house. I don't even regularly stock cookies. So the switch to clean eating really didn't alter my diet a lot. As a result it will be the exercise that drops the weight and as well all know, when you begin to exercise you don't drop weight immediately because muscle weighs more than fat. So as you are developing muscles, your weight may stay the same or increase. The trick is to continue to push through this initial phase.

That being said, although I haven't took my measurements, I am suspecting that I am carving away some inches, as I am starting to look a little firmer and toned. So, I will continue to update here my journey so that you can follow it and see my results.

Here's to another day tomorrow!

My Slim in 6 journey!!

So after any attempts at various workout programs, at which I have ultimately failed, I think I have found one that will suit.

What I have found is that I was needing a more gradual program and not just jump into some insanely intense workout. I tried that route and found that I hated working out, dreaded it, and ultimately just quit.

However, I found one that starts out gradually, and then increases over a period of 6 weeks. I have also found that it provides easy meals to prepare and eat that don't make me feel like I am being deprived.

And so it all began today. Day 1! I did my weigh in and ate according to the meal guide and have done workout one of two. If followed regularly, one can lose anywhere from 20-30 lbs in the six weeks, which would put me at or just about at my goal weight and goal size with inches also dropping off. If you are in doubt, watch here as I will be updating regularly.

I currently weigh 157 lbs and I did take my before picture but am going to be saving that til the end. I will also be taking a pic at days 15, 30 and 45 so you can get a pictoral sense of exactly how this program works.

To give you a sense of my meals. I will be eating 6 smaller meals which allows for continued energy from food and also keeps your metabolism working and active and thereby burning calories.

So today: breakfast was shakeology with 1/2 banana, mid morning snack was an apple, lunch was grilled turkey with a salad, afternoon snack was cottage cheese and 1/2 banana. Dinner will be another helping of grilled turkey (although chicken and fish work in here as well), with another salad with different ingredients, then a nice cup of herbal teal to top off my day!

I look forward to having you along for the ride!
